Symbolism in Stars

I love The Star card, it’s very understated. I don’t hear it spoken of as frequently as some of the other well known cards such as The Hanged Man, The Tower or even The Devil. Human nature can be geared to the negative, so of course the more drama cards are most famous.

If you are a cosmic soul or enjoy astrology, what is more astrological than a card featuring stars from the night sky. It is the constellation of stars after all has influenced our observation of the human psyche. For thousands and thousands of years, ancient people would gaze at the stars and had stories to tell. The power of myth and storytelling.  Much of myth comes from the skies.  If you look any constellation, there is a myth and storytelling associated with the stars. Just like gazing at the sky, this card offers much imagination and visualisation. These are themes of this wonderful card.

For a long part of documented human history, the stars guided passage on the seas. Many, many humans have looked to the stars in the night sky for guidance, reflection. My belief is that we should return to this place. We have an abundance of technology to entertain us, at night time you will most people are inside watching something on the television. But for a very long time, that was not the reality. It was storytelling outside under the open sky.

Kids make wishes to the stars.

Stars hold hope and are symbolic of our dreams.

The Star Card Meaning

Overall, if you pull this card in a reading, there is a sweetness and an overall positive energy. Whether it is career, relationships or another lifestyle matter you may be pondering, this card is your reminder to have hope for your future.

There is also a great potential for healing with this card, the positive feelings evoked of the future with the flow of healing waters.

The tarot card you pull at any time is not about a prediction, it is about what your soul needs to know at any given moment. What energy you may need more of.

There is a beautiful stillness that comes with this card, and an invitation to connect to your inner wisdom and your inner light, allow your inner star to shine! What a special opportunity.

Importantly, it’s not just about having a dream, it is about what you are going to do about it. How are you going to pursue your hopes and dreams? What action or steps will you take to make them a reality.

The Star Reversed

I personally don’t read cards in reverse as I believe the tarot deck is complete with the range of human experience.

Aquarius and The Star Card

The Star tarot card is the Major Arcana card associated with the zodiac sign Aquarius. In the traditional The Star card you will see the water bearer which is the symbol for Aquarius in this card. If you are an Aquarius this is your Sun sign card.

Aquarius is an air sign that is often mistaken for a water sign due to their symbol showing flowing water.

But it is the well or waters or knowledge that the symbol represents.

How to Connect with The Star Card

On your journey with learning about the cards, you will learn their meaning the more you study them.

  1. Use The Star as your anchor card in a reading. What you want is guidance on how to embody The Star, that is to allow yourself to see the brightness in situations, to have hope, to find comfort and to heal. To activate The Star as your anchor, you will shuffle and draw another tarot card to guide you. The tarot is a mirror to your soul. You will pick the card you need to hear at the time.

  2. Place it somewhere you will see it regularly throughout Aquarius Season. Next to your bed, in your journal, on your dresser, near a mirror. Reflect on the card. Look for different symbolism or meaning each time you look at the card. Perhaps the colours stand out, is there imagery you have not yet seen.

Lovely illustrations in The Star Tarot card. See the water flowing, the waterbearer is the symbol for Aquarius.
