2026 Full Moon in Virgo Dates

This is the only Full Moon that will occur in Virgo for all of 2026.

Australian Eastern: Tuesday, 3 March 2026 at 10:38 PM
USA: Tuesday, 3 March 2026 at 3:38 AM (Pacific)
UK: Tuesday, 3 March 2026 at 11:38 AM

If we break the lunar cycle into 8, the Full Moon phase lasts approximately 3.5 days from the above time.

The Virgo Full Moon forms a conjunction with the South Node of the Moon. This also creates a Total Lunar Eclipse!

This is an opportunity for deep release of behavioural patterns that do not serve you, particularly around Virgo shadow themes of perfectionism or overthinking.

About a Full Moon

A Full Moon occurs when the Moon moves opposite the Sun in the sky. Us here on Earth are between the two bodies.

The Sun’s light fully illuminates the Moon, so she shines brightly, and we have the peak of light and energy in the lunar cycle.

The Full Moon is the 5th lunar phase completing the first half of the lunar cycle.

Throughout history, the Full Moon was a time for outward celebration, energetic rituals, fertility, abundance, and enjoying the fruits of your labour.

Many people are sensitive to the light and energy of a full Moon. Some are woken at 3 AM with a rush of creativity. A Full Moon is typically the time in the lunar cycle for the most social activity and fun. There is a spark in the air.

About a Lunar Eclipse

Who else remembers the Twilight movie or book Eclipse? It pops into my millennial mind when knowing an eclipse is coming up!

A total lunar eclipse occurs when Moon and the Sun are in direct opposition in the sky, but the Moon is in Earth’s shadow creating a red spectacle! This event occurs at the time of the Full Moon, because the Sun and Moon are opposing one another in the sky with us on Earth in the middle.

The March 2026 lunar eclipse should be visible from Pacific areas of the world.

Lunar Eclipse Spiritually

Spiritually, an eclipse can be an intense for many as there is a big unraveling underway. Surrender is essential. We may be confronted with areas of our life that need clearing.

Key themes for an eclipse occurring in Virgo are cleansing and healing.

An eclipse can present an upheaveal of the way we have been doing things. Karmic patterns of behaviour are a key focus as the eclipse occurs in the same location as the South Node of the moon.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury, the messenger. We are called to purify our thoughts, be kinds with what we tell ourself, reject self-criticism and to anchor into our body.

Your body is your soul’s home. On that note, what you put into your body is a focus, are you eating and fueling well?

Virgo Full Moon

While the Full Moon occurs in Virgo, the Sun is in Virgo's opposing sign, Pisces. We are in the middle of these two energies, and you are called to bring together the two polarities.

Themes this Full Moon:

The High Priestess: One of the archetypes for Virgo is The High Priestess. This is about integrating the unseen mysteries into our physical existence. A time for heightened intuition and healing power.

Grounding: Earth sign Virgo wants you to ground by connecting to the earth and your body, and the water sign Pisces is mystical and spiritual.
Integration: Allow this Full Moon to integrate your spirituality (Pisces) into your daily habits (Virgo).
Release: A key theme of a Full Moon is to release what no longer serves you. Since Virgo is an earth sign, I picture this Full Moon where a woman runs carefree through a field, skipping, not holding on to anything that doesn't serve her at the moment. Virgo is associated with purification. Identify if your body, mind or spirit needs Virgo purification?
Health & Routine: Think of things in the Virgo realm of health, daily habits, and self-care. Identify what is holding you back in one of these areas and release it; it could be a mindset, a belief, a behaviour or an outlet. An example could be ceasing time on your phone after 9 PM so you can instead meditate, which combines Virgo's daily habits with Pisces's spiritual practice.
Manifesting: This lunar cycle started with the last new moon. The New Moon was the time to set intentions. Revisit your New Moon intentions. The energy from the Full Moon will help you manifest the intentions you set. Allow the light of the Moon to illuminate your purpose and path to achieving your intentions.

Virgo Full Moon Rituals

I’m a big advocate for slow living and I think Full Moon rituals can be simple.

I love to mark the occasion, but I don’t want to be too elaborate. At the very least some journaling.

Here are some ways to celebrate a Virgo Full Moon:

Immersion

Enjoy a Full Moon bath ritual. I like to listen to a full moon specific meditation while I’m in the bath. My rule for a Full Moon bath is no artificial light, only candles in the room. Your bathroom may even be positioned in a way that you get moonlight coming through the window!

The flower for Virgo is chrysanthemum if you want to decorate your bath area.

Tea

Brew your tea and leave it out overnight in the full moon light.

I’ll have a bergamot English Breakfast tea that I will brew and sip while I sit in my garden. A garden is a very Virgo environment.

Moonlight

We often are focused on indoor rituals we forget that the full moon is actually occurring outside. We have an opportunity to bathe in the cycle of light.

Step outside and gaze in awe at the sun’s light reflected back to us in the darkness of night.

In the lead up to a Full Moon, I like to step outside and observe the moon waxing towards fullness.

Crystals

If you are a fan of using crystals, you might like to sit with Virgo specific options including amazonite, fluorite, sodalite or smoky quartz.

Movement

A Full Moon is the peak light of the lunar cycle and more energetic. Moving your body feels good. Dancing around your living room with your favourite music.

Going for a walk in nature to connect to Virgo’s element, earth.

Connect Your Senses

Engage your sense of smell by burning essential oils or candles.

Some scents that are associated with Virgo include ylang ylang, sandalwood and bergamot.

Earth Connection

To celebrate the lunar phases, I always recommened connecting to the element of the sign. For Virgo, the element is Earth. Sitting in the garden is a lovely way to connect to Earth among trees or greenery. If you’re one to enjoy flowers, you may like to display white flowers in your home.

White is Virgo’s colour and also the colour the Moon looks to us when full!
