The Moon is our beloved sweet companion.

The Moon is our softer luminary to the vibrant sun. The sun rules the day time, it is our lifeforce and vitality. While the Moon is our sweet gentle companion that provides us with a monthly rhythm, smoothly guides our seasons and governs over the evenings.

The Moon is the domain of darkness and quietness. Our beloved companion that we gaze in awe at. She appears at different locations in the sky every day and sometimes she doesn’t appear at all.

As women, many of us don’t want to operate in a high-output society every day. Sometimes we just want to retreat just like the Moon does. We may not always want a strict routine, it may be that we want to flow with how we are feeling on any given day.

It’s important to nourish your feminine energy to avoid burnout, exhaustion and feeling out of alignment. Nourishing your feminine energy is to fill your cup.

I invite you to nourish your feminine energy with the Moon. You can do this by tending to the areas of the Moon’s domain, and by living in alignment with the lunar cycle.

The feminine part of our souls aligns with the themes and phases of the Moon.

Themes of the Moon

Our feminine energy is gentle, values slowness, is open to receiving, abundant, loving, tends to the home, trusts inner wisdom and intuition. These happen to be themes of the Moon. The feminine energy our souls carry are the same themes as the Moon. So it makes sense to me that to nourish our feminine energy, we watch what the Moon is doing and live in alignment with her phases.

You see increasingly popular phrases like “romanticize your life” and I believe this is a call to embrace feminine energy. Society sees progress in things like how much output you do, what you tick off your to-do list, how many reels you can post a week and so on. The measuring stick is external output which is masculine energy. But what about our soft inner feminine? Our sweet internal world that doesn’t want to be guided by masculine measurements of success.

Phases of the Moon

Every month the Moon begins a new lunar cycle, grows in light to reach fullness before waning down to darkness again.

At times our feminine souls want to cocoon and rest. Other times in the month we are feeling the energetic spark of light. We wax and wane just like the Moon’s phases.

Here is how you can nourish your feminine soul by matching your energy to the Moon’s phases.

New Moon Phase

The New Moon phase is the beginning of a new lunar cycle. The moon is completely dark in the sky at this time. This phase of the Moon is much like sowing seeds stage of gardening.

The start of a plant or flowers life begins in the darkness. It is not forced, it will happen in its own time.

Your inner feminine is internally focused. This part of you grows without external measures. Tending to your heart, your intuition, your feminine wisdom and your womb. This is all inner work. Though tending to these areas is embracing your feminine. Allowing these areas to bloom is to soften.

Waxing Moon Phases

The waxing moon phases include the waxing crescent, first quarter moon and waxing gibbous moon. While they can each be explore in more detail, the main theme is gentle expansion.

Under the growing Moon is when we are building and creating. We can still do this is a soft way. A way that nourishes and tends to our feminine. Just like the seedling that emerges from the dark soil. It’s exciting to see the plant begin to grow, but we can’t rush it.

Expand gently under the waxing moon phases before blooming with the full moon.

Full Moon Phase

By far the most well known lunar phase as it is the most energetic. The light is brightest now and your feminine power is at its peak. When the moon is full is the best time to tend to things that require your overflowing feminine energy.

The themes of the full moon phase are abundance and even fertility. Your love is flowing and if you’re already a mother, you can soak in play and activity with your children or even grandchildren.

At the full moon we can embrace the most energy to tend to our homes and relationships with love and joy.

If we apply the full moon phase to gardening, this is when the flowers are blooming. Everything is at its peak. Your feminine energy is overflowing.

Waning Moon Phases

The waning moon phases include the waning gibbous moon, the last quarter moon and the waning crescent moon.

The Moon begins to shrink down in the waning moon phases. It is at this time we can start to contract again. Shedding the external and slow down. The waning moon phases are all about slow living. To live slowly is to release. We need to release stresses that are putting pressure on us. There is always work and things that we can’t completely release. Though there are things in our control that we can step away from to help embrace slowness and give our feminine energy nourishment.

Nourishing your feminine energy with the waning moon may be bouts of no social media, no phone after sunset, a morning walk and listening to the sounds of nature.

In is under these moon phases that we prioritise gentle and slow moments.

At the very end of the lunar cycle, the moon is completely dark in the sky again before starting anew. Dedicate time in your date to retreat just like the moon. Embrace the darkness.
