Exploring Pisces Zodiac Sign

Pisces is the twelfth and final sign of the zodiac. After a journey through the zodiac culminating experience, expansion and knowledge, we arrive at the sign of transcendence. The journey of life is a spiritual one and in astrology, it ends at the spiritual sign. For our existence, life, the universe all of it is spiritual.

One of my children was born a Pisces sun with a bunch of other planets also in Pisces (Pisces Stellium) so I love exploring this zodiac sign.

Pisces is also my Rising Sign and I’ve also just love the beautiful ethereal energy when Pisces Season arrives each year.

Pisces Traits and Energy

With every zodiac there are higher expression traits and lower expression traits, that’s representative human nature. There are no bad signs. Ideally, we want to nurture the highest expression but every so often you will come across an individual operating in the lower expression of their sign forever giving you a bad impression.

Pisces is a beautiful and sensitive sign. When operating in their highest energy, Pisces is our guide. Pisces has a powerful sense with many insights and wise old soul remembering’s.

Pisces is the old soul.

Pisces is a dreamy and ethereal water sign.

Pisces Associations

Element

Pisces is one of the three water signs.

One of the superpowers the water gifts Pisces is intuition. Pisces is a very intuitive sign and can often sense energy shifts and within other people.

Modality

Pisces is a mutable sign, open to change and movement. Being a water sign this is ideal, as you can imagine water likes to flow.

Pisces Ruling Planets

While many of the zodiac signs have one single planetary ruler, Pisces has two.

In ancient times when astrology was first documented, Pisces was ruled by Jupiter as Jupiter is visible to the naked eye. Once Neptune was discovered following the invention of telescopes, Neptune was also assigned as the ruler of Pisces.

I’m a supporter of using the traditional planet as the ruler of a sign, however, I do consider Jupiter and Neptune to be “co-rulers” of Pisces.

  • Jupiter: the planet of expansion, larger than life and abundance. When this applies to Pisces, we consider spiritual abundance which Pisces needs to build over their lifetime.

  • Neptune: the planet of dreams and illusions, it has a very slow orbit around the sun so impacts us over a generation.

Symbol

The symbol for Pisces is the fish. In certain cultures, the fish is considered a symbol of spiritual wisdom.

Glyph

The glyph for Pisces are the two fish swimming in opposite directions, yet tied together. You could consider this body and spirit.

Polarity

The opposite sign to Pisces on the zodiac is always Virgo. Virgo and Pisces are two sides to the same coin.

Statement

“I sense.”

Pisces Crystals

Pisces is commonly associated with the crystals amethyst and aquamarine. Both of these crystals are lovely in jewelry!

Pisces overlaps with the month of February and February is also associated with amethyst.

Amethyst is gentle enough to place in your room and serves as a beautiful companion for Pisces Season or working with the Pisces New Moon.

Amethyst is a mystical crystal for dreams, meditation and your soul’s spiritual journey.

Pisces Tarot Card

Using a tarot deck to connect with your soul is a beautiful practice for all of us, but especially ethereal Pisces.

Pisces is associated with The Moon tarot card. This can be a little to confusing to some, as in astrology the moon is the ruling planet of Cancer. There are some subtle differences between the tarot card meaning and the moon itself.

While both represent emotions, The Moon tarot card is very much about illusions.

Other keywords for The Moon tarot card that relate to Pisces:

  • Dreams

  • Intuition

  • Vulnerability

  • The sea of the subconscious

The beautiful tarot deck I use is a wonderful gift for any Pisces, including a gift to yourself!

Pull The Moon card out of your tarot deck and study the symbolism and illustrations and see what jumps out at you. This can deepen your own understanding of Pisces and this card.

Birth Chart House

I consider the houses and the signs in astrology to be different. That being said, the 12th House has the most overlaps with Pisces. The 12th house is also where Neptune likes to express.

The 12th house is about the unseen, dreams and hidden realms. It’s a deeply mysterious part of a birth chart.

Pisces is the mermaid of the zodiac.

Pisces Archetype

Pisces is The Mystic of the zodiac. There is a need in the lifetime of a Pisces to sit in quiet contemplation. This sign needs a spiritual outlet, especially if one was born with a Pisces Moon.

Some of the other archetypes you will also hear Pisces being called:

  • “The Dreamer” of the zodiac.

  • “The Samaritan” of the zodiac.

  • “The Prophet” of the zodiac.

Lifetime Goal for Pisces

In this lifetime, a goal of Pisces is for deep spiritual work and practice.

Pisces longs for a transcendent experience.

This is even more essential for anyone born with a Pisces North Node.
